Resumo: This study, a qualitative research project, seeks to discover different dimensions of teaching satisfaction or dissatisfaction expressed by teachers in an elementary school in the city of Porto Alegre. To this end, five teachers were selected and through different instruments and observations used by them, it was possible to list the different dimensions and look for, the intertwining views of some theorists, an approximation of the reality experienced by teachers in different educational settings in everyday Brazilian life. Considering that such dimensions are identified, along with other teachers, through their accounts, their life stories, in the educational crisis we are living. The devaluation of the teaching profession, which reflects the devaluation of education, has been a constant presence, both in the educational environment and in society in general. Theoretical support is given by Arroyo, Tardif, Lessard, Josso, New Mosquera, Stobäus, Santos and others, having as a guiding principle the studies on the stories and narratives of life and training, proposed by Abrahão. The study introduces the idea of an urgent need to link the theory and practice, and the promotion of wide space for training, having in view an adequate education to the new moment lived by teachers and students nowadays.
