Resumo: |
This paper discusses the relationship between the media and politics, specifically television and the low visibility of women in the coverage of politics. The research aims to analyze the image portrayed by television journalism of women in political positions in Brazil, and in what way the media contributes to giving visibility to these women. With the methodology of content analysis (BARDIN, 1977), a quantitative and qualitative study is proposed in the Jornal da Globo (Rede Globo) and Jornal da Noite (Band) television programs during the months of March and April 2018, in which the space that women in political positions occupy is analyzed, either as a source of information or as the subject of the report. The results are of a political cover that privileges the men, having the women rarely as source. The female presence in the coverage of politics was verified only in reports that dealt with violence and corruption, in the same way that significant absences were identified in reports related directly to women. Finally, there is a need to implement affirmative actions aimed at the greater inclusion of women in politics, as well as to increase their visibility in the media. |
