Resumo: The theme of this dissertation is the study of the lexicon in Brazilian Portuguese us-ages. It is theoretically based on Argumentative Semantics, a perspective developed by Oswald Ducrot and collaborators. The general objective is to propose a grammati-cal study of the lexicon based on Argumentative Semantics to explore the meanings arising from the relation between full words and instrumental words in Portuguese uses. The specific objectives are: (1) to verify if Argumentative Semantics is present in grammatical/descriptive studies of Portuguese and how this presence is shaped; (2) to create support for the grammatical study of the Portuguese lexicon based on the pro-posal presented by Ducrot (2002), in the text "Internalizers", for the classification of words, with systematization of the main concepts of Argumentative Semantics; and (3) to analyze uses of Portuguese from a semantic-argumentative conception in order to contribute to the descriptions of this language about the meanings arising from the relation between different types of words. With the purpose of fulfilling these objectives, the dissertation is structured in three chapters, in which, respectively, the following topics were approached: (1) the near absence of Argumentative Semantics in gram-matical studies to explain the argumentative functions of language (2) the basics of Argumentative Semantics and Ducrot's (2002) proposal on lexicon classification and (3) exploration, in headlines of digital magazines, websites and newspapers, conveyed on the Internet during the pandemic of the Covid-19 virus (between 2020 and 2022), of the relationship between full words and instrumental words for the construction of meanings in the uses of Brazilian Portuguese. The results of our analyses point to the idea that performing a grammatical study of the lexicon based on Argumentative Se-mantics implies verifying how the senses, in discourse, are produced from the relation between different types of words: the full words and the instrumental words (articula-tors, modifiers and internalizers). The basic argumentative relations of a thread, the normative and the transgressive connectives, enhance the description of meaning and account for the fact that producing meaningful discourse and understanding its mean-ing requires reflecting on the semantic-argumentative relations between words, that is, analyzing the lexicon based on what Ducrot (2004) calls " grammar of meaning".
