Considering the contribution of folklorists as the first attempt to organize an anthology of African folktales in Brazil, we finally got the point of the migration of this legacy for children s and youth literature, through the works of authors that initiated new steps to the establishment of the African folktales in Brazil. Joel Rufino dos Santos, Rogério Andrade Barbosa and Reginaldo Prandi have dealt with their own specific method, and in distinct historical moments. The present work also investigates the rising of a specific popular stories category, named as recount, arising from the multicultural register and resulting of the narrative transculturation process; and proposes the reading of these authors works, taking the notion of fear as the central subject and questioning the existence of an Afro-Brazilian poetic all these essential elements to expand the horizons of the young reader.
