Resumo: The present study encompasses women characters in the narratives A Valsa da Medusa (1990), A Colheita dos dias (1991), Harmonia das esferas (2000) and A ponta do silêncio (2016), by Valesca de Assis, and its objective is to analyze the experiences of women characters who compose the corpus, examining their roles in the narrative, as well as revealing the oppressing violence caused by the social contract and the male-dominated social system. Through structured games between narrators and characters, sometimes one takes over, sometimes the other steals the voice, and the construction of organized and thought-provoking sentences, with plots that are cut and tangled thoroughly, the representativeness of Valesca de Assis works for Brazilian literature is shown. As a result of the analysis, it is noticeable that the works and the women characters chosen for the reflection report many stories of violence and domination imposed by the patriarchal society.
