The study analyzes how the news items of the G1 news website addressed the theme of violence against women during the year 2016, the year celebrating the ten years of the Maria da Penha Law, in order to identify the educational-formative content of the news. Violence manifests itself in many ways: insults, threats, rapes, harassment, murders, but also in more subtle and symbolic forms such as disqualification and humiliation. Most violent acts occur in the home environment and the victim generally knows the perpetrator. The large number of denunciations and collective demonstrations that have taken place in several countries in recent decades has triggered a process that has taken violence against women from the domestic sphere, making it public. In this scenario, taking the media as a topic of study, it is possible to observe, especially through the digital media, that they constitute a subject of general interest and develop an important educational function. In this way, the media presents itself as an agent of socialization, functioning as a constructor of behaviors, values and standards. To perform the analysis and interpretation in the qualitative exploratory research process (documentary analysis), we used the discursive textual analysis method. We also use feminist hermeneutics to interpret phenomena and discourses from the worldview of women. Among the 762 news items collected, 20 news items with different approaches on violence against women were analyzed. Based on the analysis of the journalistic issues of 2016, one can identify that fear and loneliness are discouraging aspects of women who intend to make the complaint, who in most of the approaches presented a police character, concentrating on reproducing the information of the authorities , reinforcing stereotypes and discrimination against women, as well as naturalizing gender violence. |
