Resumo: |
Studies of organizational culture and corporate memory are recent in Brazil, dating from the 1970s and 1980s, respectively. Although research on the topic has become latent in recent years, the number of studies is still low and they don’t explore organizational culture and business memory as allies in the media, making this research justified by its originality in the media academic, helping the market and academia. The objective of this work is to understand the manifestation of the dimensions of organizational culture and corporate memory from speeches of former Varig employees. The selected dimensions are: symbolic (BARBOSA, 2014), for organizational culture, and individual and collective memory (HALBWACHS, 2006), for business memory. To achieve this objective, the techniques of bibliographic research (STUMPF, 2010), documentary research (MOREIRA, 2010) and discourse analysis (CHARAUDEAU, 2001; 2004; 2010; 2014) were used, based on the collection of institutional materials, theoretical research and six testimonies from previous Varig employees. The present work is divided into five chapters, the first being designated “Methodological Path: from document analysis to discourse analysis”, using as main authors Marconi and Lakatos (2003), Lima and Mioto (2007), Gil (2008) , Stumpf (2010), Moreira (2010), Charaudeau (2001; 2004; 2010; 2014) and Maingueneau (2004). The second chapter, entitled “Interfaces of Culture: a symbolic look”, has Bourdieu (1983; 2003), Hall (2006), Eagleton (2006), Marchiori (2014; 2017), Freitas (1999; 2002) and Tavares (1991). The third chapter, called “Memory: concepts, approaches and perspectives” has as main authors Halbwachs (2006), Nora (1993), Nassar (2016; 2013; 2012a; 2012b; 2004), Cogo (2013), Le Goff (2003), Pollak (1992) and Ricoeur (2007). The fourth chapter, nicknamed “History of Viação Aérea Rio-grandense (Varig)”, has as main authors Fay and Oliveira (2017; 2009), Oliveira (2011), Ribeiro (2008), Ermakoff (2002) and Flores Jr. (1997). Finally, there is an analysis of the selected material, anchored in the perspective of discourse analysis by Charaudeau (2001; 2004; 2010; 2014), where we sought to answer the guiding question of the research: how organizational culture and business memory manifest themselves in the speeches of former Varig employees? From reading and analyzing the testimonies, based on the institutional materials presented, it was possible to identify the dimensions and justify them. Among the main results found, are the presence of the symbolic dimension of organizational culture in the valuation of the organization by the employee, in the valuation of the employee by the organization, and in the construction of the institution’s image and identity. The dimension of individual and collective memory is already presente in the speeches of the interviewees, based on the use of specific terms and institutional materials |
