Resumo: |
The shape of the dental arches has considerable implications for orthodontic treatment planning and depends on the accuracy of the detailed reproduction of the dental arches. The aim of this study was to analyze the shape of the dental arch in patients treated at the Escola de Ciências da Saúde e da Vida da PUCRS (ECSV-PUCRS) and analyze angular and linear measurements before and after treatment. Compare them between individuals with faces hypodivergent and hyperdivergent. A sample of 20 Class II cases that met the criteria of the Objective Grading System of the Brazilian Board of Orthodontics was used. The models were digitized on an intraoral digital scanner and the measurements on the models were performed using the OrthoAnalyzer software. Reference points on dental structures were selected to obtain linear and angular measurements to determine the shape and dimension of the dental arch at T0 and T1. An expansion in the lower intercanine distance was observed, by the increase in the intercanine distance and in the tooth 43 angle with the midline, which showed a significant difference (P = 0.05 and P = 0.047). The intermolar distance had no significant variation (P = 0.619), being maintained by the use of individualized arches during the treatment. There were no statistically significant relationships between mandibular growth patterns and linear and angular measurements on the mandibular arches. |
