Resumo: |
Although we live in the 21st century, we observe that in everyday life it is still possible to find some resistance to technological resources and from society itself in relation to the use of technologies by the elderly. The advances in technologies have required them to learn continuously, so that they can interact autonomously and be socially active, including towards innovations, and thus create possibilities to understand and build new social actors, because technologies require a new posture from the elderly. Both the relationship between information and communication technologies (ICTs) and the production of knowledge for the social inclusion of this population guided this research, whose main objective was to get to know and understand the relationships between the elderly with technologies and the impact of such relationships in their lives. A qualitative cross-sectional study was carried out by means of individual interviews with a recorded script to 50 participants (46 women and 4 men), all of them who were over 60 years old, between 60 and 87, attending a senior group of the city of São Bernardo do Campo, Greater São Paulo, Brazil. Through the interviews, it was possible to observe that for most of the interviewees the resources offered by the technologies satisfy the participants connected to the different digital medias, sharing content on Facebook, talking via WhattsApp and expressing opinions in 140 characters through Twitter, besides conversing on Skype. Many of them reported that they stopped interacting socially because of lack of family encouragement as well as for the socioeconomic context of the country. Another important fact found is that for 50% of the respondents there is a very significant variation between the factors that "bring closer" or "distanced" the family and social contact after the use of these technologies. For the 50 participants digital inclusion is one of the key points for bonding, distancing or not interfering with other generations and insertion into society |
