Resumo: This dissertation has the objective to make the analysis about the memory and importance of the singer Geraldo Vandré on the cultural scene in the decades of 1960 and 1970. With the perspective to problematize his role in the resistance by the music and the repression forms used against him and his implications. The relevance of this work is in the insertion on the fight against the oblivion and for the research of the comprehension by the reality that different opinions and projects of the Brazilian authoritarian society were combated with extremely violence. The practices of Geraldo Vandré are analyzed, more than just by his lyrics and melodies of his songs, but observing, mainly, by the way that the singer made his shows and edified his force. His principal characteristics, like the voice and the gestures, were fundamental elements for the analysis between the relation with the public and the comprehension about the repression made against him. All the analysis produced here observe the perspective that the culture is dynamic and the social relations are pervaded by conflicts and tensions, being in a constant construction, just like concepts. This research starts by questions imposed by the present and assumes a prospective character
