Resumo: |
There was at the beginning of studies on games and narrative that both could not coexist together, it was thought that the more restricted structure of the narrative compared to the interactivity of the game would interfere with each other. However, nowadays we see that the vast majority of games have stories as elaborated as other more traditional media, and that games have appropriated the language of cinema to convey their narrative. However, despite the success of these games there are problems that occur because of conflicts between what the game's story tells and what the player does, or can do, in a game. Thus, we see that there is another form of narrative, which uses the unique feature of games, interactivity, to create a story in a dynamic and unique way for each player, the emergent narrative. In this research we first define the elements of both games and narratives, how they work together to give the player an enjoyable gaming experience, and how the interaction between game systems creates the emergent narrative. Finally, let's look at two stories taken from the Crusader King 2 Game community, to see how the game community creates its narratives through the events that occur within the game |
