Resumo: |
The present work sought to list the reasons alleged by the students who left their courses, in order to understand the reasons that led them to give up. For that end, the Professional Technical Education, educational level responsible for the qualification focused on the professions, was selected for the study. The data collection took place at the Santa Ifigênia State Technical School (ETEC), located in the central region of São Paulo, created to offer courses in the professional axis of Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure, which has a high dropout rate, reaching 61% of students evaded in 2017. The school forms completed by students at the time of dropout were used as a data collection instrument. In addition interviews were conducted with two former students of the referred school, one graduate and one dropout, in order to present the experiences as students in the school environment. In order to visualize and understand the reasons given by the students regarding their dropout, six axes were organized distributed by intrinsic and extrinsic questions to the school, as follows: personal factors, academic factors, interpersonal relationships, employment factors, school location, and student contact. It is concluded that the reasons given by students are part of a process that may involve internal and external factors, being the external ones most difficult to control. The school dropout is part of the constitution of the school, requiring actions that mobilize the school unit as a whole, students, teachers, managers and employees, considering that all individuals are human beings, consisting of feelings, emotions and knowledge |
