O significado da aposentadoria para os servidores públicos: o caso de uma universidade

Resumo: The rapid growth of old population has led to profound changes in society, requiring appropriate state responses. One consequence of this process is the increasing number of retirees and the average time of retirement. As the work occupies prominent space in the organization of human life, the output of this brings several implications pointing to the responsibility of government and organizations in the preparation of the servers, so that this shutdown won t turn into a negative experience. The objective of the study is to understand the meaning of retirement for both the technical and administrative staff and retired teachers from Unesp (Campus of Rio Claro), in order to know the changes promoted by the retirement of respondents in everyday life. Methodology of the research was qualitative in nature, with the application of a form to characterize the study population and conduct precise interview, technique which explores the subject from the search for information, perceptions and experiences of informants to analyze them and present them in a structured way. During the development of the research, the importance of registering the available info about the social supporting formal net of the elderly in Rio Claro district was identified, as well as reflecting about the participation of its population. Based on the interviews and the literature, the following categories were defined: Work; Moment of decision and planning for retirement; Retirement; and Ageing. Data analysis showed that different factors influenced the timing of the retirement decision, highlighting concerns about changes in pension legislation and the need to care for a sick relative. All interviewed had long working time at Unesp did not take part in a formal process of preparation for retirement. All consider retired life good, even in some cases where financial loss occurred. Some respondents reported difficulties shortly after retirement, but that adaptation occurred over time. Respondents refer to regular physical activity as essential for health promotion, which was considered satisfactory by almost everyone. Such work showed that the process of retirement occurs in a different way among the workers at Unesp. For those who took part in this research, retirement meant, mainly, a positive experience, with major possibility of dedication to family and alo postponed activities which had been set aside during all journey. Several reasons can influence the feeling towards retirement, such as personal, familiar or institucional. Suggestions of respondents for the Unesp Retirement Preparation Program were also registered. From the observations and analyzes, proposals that can contribute to the implementation of actions directed to the servers who are approaching retirement are presented too
