Resumo: The object of study of this research is home care by a physiotherapist, who develops his work through "resistance exercises" for the maintenance of functional capacity and physical independence, in preventive or recuperative terms, of elderly people living in São Paulo. The general objective is to identify and characterize the perception of the elderly about the physical and psychic effects of a treatment oriented physiogerontological. Specific objectives are: (i) To apprehend the relationship established in the professional-physiotherapist and elderly-patient relationship and to try to explain in what way it contributes to the treatment; (ii) Empower the elderly to strengthen their muscles, preparing them to exercise, with the necessary autonomy, their daily life activities (ADLs), basic or instrumental; (iii) To characterize the physiotherapist-patient bond, to recover and explain the determinants of adherence, or not, to the daily practice of physical activity. In this direction, the approach of clinical-qualitative research is used, in light of the gerontological perspective of Active Aging, applying the field research to seven subjects, over 65 years old, being two women and five men, with the collection of their testimonies during the year 2018, from semi-structured interviews and transcribed in their entirety. The field diary is presented as a constituent part of the interview, when the professional is applying the technique of focused or free observation, to include personal observations of the interviewer, regarding difficulties experienced by the interviewer, or complaints, suggestions, etc. expressed by the interviewees. The hypothesis is that an adequate clinical intervention of a physiotherapist, in an environment of private activity, can provide conditions for a better therapeutic result, since it is associated with a strong affective bond between patient and therapist. The results show that both conditions can be facilitative to the process, since it allows the professional to recover from the voice of the elderly themselves the determinants of adherence to physical and psychological practice, as well as attest to their physical and psychic recovery, which causes them to feel good to-be, one of the requirements for quality of life, preventing them dysfunctions in their activities of daily living (ADL)
