Resumo: |
On October 1908, Pedro de Alcântara de Orléans e Bragança, son of Princess Isabel and Emperor Don Pedro II, renounced claim to his and his descendants rights to the Brazilian throne; this being a nonexistent throne, taking into account the Republic system that was established in the country in 1889. After the relinquishment, the Crown Prince betrothed in the situation of inequality of marriage to Elisabeth Dobrzensky de Dobrzenicz, on November of the same year. Setting this event as base, it was charted the matches made by the Princes of Brazil, trying to identify some standard or rule in the consorts choice, in order to become intelligible to Pedro d Alcântara's relinquisment. Not in the political arena, once the dynasty did not own the regal power; but, in the rules and family matches traditional plans. The informations acquired from the research founded that the idea of his betrothed in situation of inequality of marriage was a relevant issue in the downfall of the monarchy scenario and the maintenance of the dynastic structure, despite the nonexistent regal power and the state apparatus, legalizer of successive order of yore. From this chart was identified some constancy in the matches with the House of Bourbon, regardless of regal condition or betrothal, which keeps on the two generations matches from the Princes of Brazil who got married after Republican seizure of power in 1889, which leads the survey to a new assumption: relevant matches as legalizer element of condition of the heir to empire, not in Rational-legal authority plan, that the Republic intended to introduce, but as a statement of Traditional Authority according to Weber typology. With that, the idea that marriages in this new scenario sought to keep the predominant rules, that characterized the marital decisions aiming to maintain purity in the royal power, for the bearer of the traditional legitimacy |
