Resumo: The purpose of this research is to study the development of the new lead, a journalistic device derived from the digital convergence of the mass media of the 20th century. Based on this assumption, an analysis based on the current context of the production, placement, and consumption of fragments of information is established through samples of the new lead, both in portals of major communication companies and in some of the most popular social platforms today. Such cultural structure in the virtual environment, based on principles of mercantile praxis and associated with other habits and characteristics of the contemporary socio-political context, affects the critical interpretation of the individual, operating in the field of ambiguity and uncertainty. The study seeks to observe the reflection of these characteristics in interpersonal relationships and the development of the interpretive cognitive base through the manipulation of the new lead. For the development of this research, the main authors used were Lúcia Santaella, regarding the theme of digital media convergence and its consequences, Juarez Bahia, as to the history of the Brazilian press, Henri Bergson and Gilles Deleuze, regarding the influence the affection of images and Rogério da Costa Santos, about the automatism of thought and human interrelationships
