Resumo: This article analyzes the phenomenon of migration from the point of view of clinical experience gathered at several public institutions in the city of Belém, Brazil. Migration was originally seen as a simple statistical matter, but, due to the great numbers of patients coming from different geographical regions, it has now become a major aspect in analysis. Clinical experience has shown that one significant factor is the threat felt by patients. This is evident in their everyday lives and reproduced in treatment situations.
