This paper analyzes how the Pastoral da Criança training leaders process has been developed by people who are volunteer in thousands of communities in Brazil and other countries, with the commitment to fight infant mortality of followed up families, in the community environment. The work of the leaders aims to strengthen the engagement with the goal of constructing citizenship, as stated in the Leader s Guide Book. The Pastoral da Criança. Organization was launched in Brazil in 1983, by the doctor and sanitarian Zilda Arns Neumann. After 32 years of acting mainly in the health field, the organization has been demonstrating that with simple and low-budget initiatives it is possible to reduce expressively child mortality. This paper in the educational field analyzes the training proposal of Pastoral da Criança, taking as reference the key concepts of Paulo Freire pedagogy. This is a qualitative research using the analysis of procedures and semi-structured interviews. The conclusion drawn from this research is that the process of the leaders training, although demonstrate very positive results in the prevention and children health care, to advance in the horizon of critical-liberating education, need to deepen its action, through problem based learning and analysis of borderline situations, found in the work field, along with the communities followed up by Pastoral da Criança |
