Resumo: |
At school the Environmental Education should offer a global sense of issues related to the environment itself and the way how students accept position in relation to their protection as well as improvement. They should provide meaning to what they learn about Environmental Issues starting from understanding of the problems that affect their life and community. This study is aimed at contributing for the understanding of the speeches about Environmental Education as transversal theme in grade 10 Geography programs in Mozambique. In this way, I seek to analyse the perceptions, concepts, and share methodological procedures, aiming to improve didactics practices and efficiencies of the contents that defend and conservation of nature. This is a qualitative research based on curriculum documentation, interviews, use of questionnaires administered teachers and to grade 10 and 11 students. The data analysis obtained show first teachers do not have knowledge about transversality although there is an exporadic treatment of such themes related to Environment Education in lessons. Second, due to this casual treatment of this theme by teachers, students need more detailed knowledge about environmental issues. In this work, there should be an understanding that the function of Environmental Education as a transversational theme in all subjects do not constitute the object of this study, it is only restricted to grade 10 Geography subject. However, teachers despite their understanding of the importance of Environmental Education, its implementation tends to be difficult to deal with due to lack of its treatment already mentioned in this study, therefore, there is a need for MEC to propose clear teaching procedures in the pro grammes to its satisfactory operacionalization. Teachers in service must undergo complimentary training in the areas of their acting, with aim of fulfilling adequately the iniciatives in order to guarantee environmental conservation and preservation aiming to improvement of life quality of citizens |
