The purpose of this thesis is to analyse of process of creation of songs lyrics of Paulo César Pinheiro (1949), brazilian poet, composer, novelist and playwright, by the charaterization of its singularity and by the identification of the guiding principles of his constructive routes based on critical theory of creation process of Cecilia Almeida Salles and on some conceps of the functionalist theory of Roman Jakobson and on musical theory (based on teachings of Bruno Kiefer and José Miguel Wisnik). The research starts by the hearing the recorded albums and discs of the poet-composer and several singers, selected on the thematic centers of Paulo César Pinheiro’s work (ethnic-religious, metapoetic, critical sociopolitical and lyrical), examined by several perspectives: poetic, melodic, rythmic and harmonic and analysed by the angle of incompleteness of the gesture. This multiple perspective make it possible to recognize some importants creation networks. This study also reveals singularities of the songs of the several partnerships of Pinheiro with other composers: Baden Powell, João de Aquino, Edu Lobo, Francis Hime, Dori Caymmi, Tom Jobim, Eduardo Gudin, Maurício Tapajós, Mauro Duarte, João Nogueira. The cultural relevance of the work of Paulo César Pinheiro is consequence of a great group of guiding principles of his creation process with predominants procedures and significant thematic centers. The creation process of Paulo César Pinheiro is better analysed by intertwining between critical theory of Cecilia Salles and concepts of philosophers Edgar Morin and Vincent Colapietro.
