Resumo: Ciclo Básico designed an educational experience implemented at PUCSP from the beginning of 1971 to the end of 1987. This study investigated its legacy. The theoretical aspect that guided him has its roots in Paulo Freire's educational perspectives and proposals, from which we can highlight his ideas about the issues imbricated in the teacher-student relationship, within the educational context, as well as with regard to his own conceptions about the knowledge production and the university. As for the methodological path taken, there were two sources of data: documents that mention the Ciclo Básico of PUCSP and that had been officially prepared by any PUCSP instance, published by PUCSP internal newspapers or published in theses, dissertations, books or articles and the testimony of 5 teachers of the Ciclo Básico of PUCSP who still had teaching activity at PUCSP. The data obtained allowed us to observe that the Ciclo Básico of PUCSP had an important role in the University during the period in which it was in force, both from an educational and political point of view and that its legacy is present in the conceptions, educational actions and way of being a teacher of the University’s professors that acted in it. As for the legacy left by the Ciclo Básico for PUCSP, it was found that it practically does not exist since the main features of its project have disappeared from the University's current format
