Resumo: The contemporary novel has challenged, with its fragmentation and decentered narrative, researchers and theorists. The genre reflects tridimensional images arranged as an epura in its narratives. This tridimensionality of the narrative consists in an architectural aspect that, within tensile forces, apparently paradoxical, however aporetic, demand a deep research on its development. Simoultaneous to the questioning to the image of the epura, is the image of the „real‟ (as an object) of the novel, that we tried to underline the archi-narrative space of our corpus. The main objective of this thesis is to decipher how the epura is built, how the „real‟ image is built in the novel. This investigative research has an archeological-historical and conceptual-theoretical feature in that it analyses the development of the novel from its origin and scrutinizes the theories in which the genre is based. Analyzed in a systematic way is the narrative structure and the introduction of the narrator – angelus, their field of action, the modalization of the voices –showing and telling, besides its composition and conformation within the dialectic of the voices; the ones who draw the „real‟ image of ficcional prose – novel . The domain of authors and literary works that gave theoretical support to this thesis was wide, for this reason, we chose to cite the ones who most influenced this research: Jacyntho Lins Brandão, Luiz Cozta Lima, Wolfgang Iser, Mikhail Bakhtin and Norman Friedman. This process of analysis and investigative research has as a result the finding that in the narrative process- the tridimentional image – the real – the epura is a narrative artifice in the contemporary novel
