Firstly, this work aims to trace the course of the french psychoanalyst Françoise Dolto from her childhood, through crucial historic episodes of the 20th Century and finally to mention her significant contributions to the fields of psychoanalytical theory, the early child treatment and in the dissemination os the psychoanalysys in France and throughout the world. In a second moment it intends to situate her most significant theoretical construct – the unconscious body image – in regard to the complex history of the psychoanalytical discipline, as conceived by Renato Mezan in O tronco e os ramos. The main argument is that Françoise Dolto not only played a main role in the evolution of psychoanalysys on the 20th century, but must also be considered before the vast group of authors in contemporary psychoanalysis |
