This dissertation deals with the subject of the right to information for consumers with visual impairment, specifically with respect to proper labeling of products that are considered of basic necessities such as food and medicine. The non-compliance of this rule can hurt their fundamental rights to life and preservation of health and safety. To follow the correct path which aims to highlight the application of existing standards to ensure the protection of basic right to information to consumers with visual impairment the study used as methodology deductive reasoning and bibliographic research technique with which seeks to bring together the relevant theoretical framework presented in the four chapters of this report: the first chapter is dedicated to demonstrate the evolution of the protection of people with disabilities until our present day; the second chapter deals with the constitutional provision of protection of the disabled person and consumer; the third addresses the inner constitutional discipline applied to the subject, focusing on the Consumer Protection Code; the last chapter presents the existing initiatives to minimize the problem of lack of adequate information to visually impaired consumers. After the research effort, the conclusion reached is that the existing rules are sufficient to provide the visually disabled consumer the right to minimum adequate information on product labeling of basic necessities, such as food and medicines. Hence, in order not to harm their life, health and safety, the commitment of society and the State is necessary to guarantee its effectiveness |
