Resumo: |
This study investigates the context of the comtemporary adolescence discussing two vertices that are part of the current adolescent s life: the inherent fact of their development, which implies biopsychosocial changes, as well as the fact of living in a society which is also going through tranformations that lead it to instability.. Both interact causing new distress and disadjustment that need to be identified and analysed, and actions taken to diminish the forsaking felt by the adolescent. The dialogue between theorist and poetry self-portrait leads to conceptualization. We discussed five case studies and two worshops on health education to examine the issues proposed in the study. The myths point at the universal character of some adolescents experiences, their families and their groups. New types of families which imply significant changes in structure, function and dynamics are identified, offering children and adolescents a different developing context. Families and society expect a mature youngster, ready to make and take responsibility over his/her choices, although not willing to lose the children they used to have under their control. Double uneasiness arises when the adolescent is not able to manage his /her losses, frustrations and pains because he/she has not learnt it through life. Moreover, he/she does not receive from their familiar environment the necessary self-discipline that will guarantee his/her psychological health and also because his /her parental figures do not know how to deal with distress. To reach this goal, relationships must be strengthened, with clear and objective roles and functions equally shared |
