Formação do leitor: a escola cumpre a tarefa?

Resumo: Does the school form or shape the reader? To answer the question, this research carried out from 2006 took as its principal object of analysis the school actions of the teachers of the municipal Basic school "Cândido Portinari", located in Perus, São Paulo, in the Basic Teaching I, having in mind to apprehend if the development of several schools activities in the multiple spaces of realization of the classrooms, indicates, effectively the process of constitution of the reader. The observation that the school "educates" the reading, - understood as a bad characteristic - checked in many people, is debated about the formation of the school reader, it was taken like counterpoint, since it was looked to understand the actions of the agents: teachers, advisors, coordinators, etc. as marked by socially and historically constituted ways, defining the school culture, in which the teaching of the reading and of the writing appears among the principal acquisitions of the pupils, specially for those of Basic Teaching. There was linked the approach done to the practices of the Ethnomethodolgy research, in what the researcher looks at the analysis of the action of the agents, the explanations on the made choices. Considering, in this way, for analysis of the obtained data, the discussions carried out by the sociology of education in which the reading and the writing turn up as defining of the specific way of socialization of the modern societies, being the school, modern institution par excellence, the main way to the constitution of the reader. In this way, authors as Bourdieu; Guy Vincent, Lahire, Daniel Thin; Anne Marie Chartier and Gimeno Sacristán were taken specially, because their researches supplied elements that allowed us to understand that the school does not form another subject except the reader, since everything they do privileges the writing way of communication. In the mean time, it is needed to think about the entire reader, that one who affords, foremost from the infinity of texts that socially circulates, comprehend what was read, establishing the most varied feasible relationships and more, that the reading becomes acquired and cultivated customary behavior from school, especially for the children who do not have access to this cultural property within the familiar atmosphere. The school, which actions are marked by changes, but, especially by permanencies, develops actions that mark an insufficient acquisition of the skills of reading, that because, while carrying out daily actions of reading, it educates them and the understandings of the agents, constituted from the interlacement of several aspects, they appear linked to the practice that privileges the formal written one
