Resumo: |
The present study aims to analyze the contributions as well as the development and occupation of the urban space of an occupational category, now known as peddler “Sacoleiro”. This category, formerly known as a “Mascate”, participated actively in the creation, construction and development of a region that became representative and as big as the great metropolis, which is the city of São Paulo. There are practices and actions that resulted in the presentation of alternatives created in the margins of the structural difficulties of an ethnic group "Arabs", who were expelled from their origin territory, and sought a place to live in peace with their families. The region that is the object of this study, which is the region of the “Rua 25 de Março”, today the center of the city of São Paulo, but which originally was a river region and therefore without importance, been the place of refuge chosen. Therefore, we seek to analyze the social groups delimited in the study region, based on the historical evolution of the place, as well as an analysis off according to the concepts and guidelines of globalization, space and place used as a space for social interaction. As well as analyzing the characteristics of these social actors that supply the informal economy and that in the search for space, created an urban social reference point |
