Resumo: The present research is part of the of Education, specially of the action group named: History of Institutions and Intellectuals of Brazilian Education, which is within the Master Program in Education: History, Politics, Society. Its main goal was to understand the intellectual formation of Plínio Salgado in the period before his performance in the Brazilian Integralist Action (AIB). The time cut corresponds to the period from 1916 to 1919, when he worked in the São Bento Post, a weekly publication he designed with his cousin Joaquim Rennó. Soon, the printed matter became the main primary source used in the analysis. For that purpose, Gramsci was the theoretical referential by which we are guided. His concept of organic intellectual allowed us to think of Plínio Salgado as a culture producer and communicator. In addition, it also provided a methodology of analysis of the means by which culture is transmitted: school, church, party, press. Another important theoretical reference was Sirinelli and his concept of networks of sociability. Its application was fundamental to define the personal relations of Plínio Salgado and the social group in which he was inserted
