Resumo: |
The main team of this thesis is the study of the inter-relation of Superior Education with the phenomenon of Social Mobility in the context of the Brazilian reality. To achieve this, it is set as main objective the analysis of the subjective social effects coming from obtaining a College Diploma in environments where parents do not have such a leveI of schooling. There will be conceptual questions related to poverty, inequality, exclusion and social mobility, as well as other questions covering Human Capital and Knowledge as relevant factors toward economical and, mainly, social deve1opment. Brazilian education, especially College, is then contextualized in its historical, quantitative, and qualitative parameters, and comparative data between the public and private systems are then exposed. An objective assessment of alumni from both systems, including their courses and institutions, algo integrates this material (Examination ofNational Courses - 1996/2003). The field survey was carried out by means of interviews with sixty egresses from three private universities of the metropolitan area of São Paulo. The procedure adopted registered the egresses' opinion on their college experiences and the respective effects in their professional and personallives generated as from their graduation. The results show a positive sensitive impact issued with the superior course vis-à-vis the fami1yegresses with these schooling characteristics (parents without a college degree). These graduates recognize the importance of graduation to their professional activities and they algo reei strengthened in their personal, family and social questions. Due to what is mentioned hereinabove, it is concluded that it is necessary that the State participate in the orientation and the stimuli of public politics focusing on the expansion of the system, on financing conditions and on the constant improvement ofthe National Superior Education System. |
