Resumo: |
We Broach in this thesis the constitution of the suburbs of the city of Rio Branco in the three last decades of the 20zoth century, by migrating rubber latex extractors, giving priority the making of their new urban identity. We question an academic production that became practically invisible and inaudible, the experiences of thousands of rubber latex extractors in the formation of the suburbs of the capital of Acre. We present a version concerning the constitution of the suburbs of the city, highlighting where the migrating families have been settled on arriving from the rubber plantations, the fights they effected aiming at the adoption of substructure of the new quarters, the strategies they forged to garantee the dispossession of the taken areas and the political relation they established with the constituted powers. We historized how a great many families of rubber latex extractors became urban dwellers when they participated in the constitution of Eclesiais de Base Communities, linked to the Catholic Church, and how some of them, became operating social subjects in the public scene of the city, after they had undergone the experiences of the CEBs . We researched how the rubber latex extractors who migrated to the city of Rio Branco, as well as their descendants, expressed their own culture through the theater, painting, literature and music, characterizing the ways of life of the forest and denouncing the foreign culture. We discuss how several cultural artistic expressions showed problematic themes, namely: the migration of rubber latex extractors to the city; the formation of the suburbs; the expulsion of rubber latex extractors to the capital city; the situation of people that remained in the forest, etc. Finally, we broached some problems, such as: how families originating from the forest lived the experience the social contrasts of and in the city; the cultural conflicts and the interpenetration city/forest |
