This master thesis seeks to understand how was the placement of the news of the looting that took place in Santo Amaro neighborhood located in the southern area of São Paulo, by Veja magazine and also by the newspaper Folha de São Paulo. The purpose observe in the course of reporting the political-media projects of both vehicles and how these projects influenced the ways to represent the social movement mentioned above. In addition, this dissertation also pretend to investigate the discursive practices that delineate a picture of looting to the reader, understanding which intentions being in your pages and how they make apparent their political directions. In addition with analysis of the newspaper’s sources Folha de S. Paulo and Veja magazine I also bring the historical context of the period, going back to the military dictatorship, their actions and consequences for the period, specifically the year 1983. Further on to recalling the years of the dictatorship, I also bring the history of some social movements that were extremely important in the past. Another topic discussed will understand the conditions of worker’s life in the ending of 70s and beginning of 80s, scrutinizing their housing conditions, transport, quality of life, etc. Finally, starting from the author Michel Foucault methodology of analysis, This dissertations understand the discursive forms that sought to represent the movements of looting and also the representations of the brazilian’s worker image at the beginning of the 80s |
