The present doctoral dissertation aims to contribute to the debate about social work, professional training, and university extension, pondering on their interfaces. This present doctoral dissertation makes some considerations about the Brazilian university, the university extension and the professional training in social service. For this purpose, this study presents and discusses the mission of the Brazilian university inserted in the tripod of education, research, and extension, as well as the development of the academic debate and the legislation regarding the extension. This present work also made a systematic bibliographic review in conference proceedings of Brazilian congresses of social work and national encounters of researches in social services that happened after 2001. This work was organized in three chapters: Brazilian University and the Extension: a look-back and theoretical bases; The Social Work and the University Extension: some approaches; The Extensions in the Social Work: analyses and thoughts based on theoretical works published in the Brazilian Congress of Social Work (Congresso Brasileiro de Serviço Social – CBAS) and the National Meeting of Researches in Social Work (Encontro Nacional de Pesquisadores em Serviço Social - ENPESS). This work examines six main categories, including the extension context, the funding for the extension, internship and extension, interdisciplinarity, dissociability between teaching, research and extension, extension and theoretical frameworks. Therefore, this work captures the characteristics of the contemporary scenario of the university extensions related to the social service, aiming to discuss the main features and the possible articulation between university extensions and social work |
