Resumo: |
This dissertation aims to study the novel Essa gente (2019), by Chico Buarque de Holanda, seeking to reflect on the aspects of autofiction, a phenomenon that has received great emphasis in contemporary literature. Interest in the corpus is linked to the contribution to the critical fortune of the novel, which, because it was published at the end of 2019, is quite scarce. To reach this goal, we raised the following question: How is the novel Essa gente constructed, regarding the use of autofiction resources? To answer this query, we studied the articulation of the narrative resources of the novel that tend to contemplate contemporaneity, among which we highlight the use of autofiction, a hybridization resource that breaks the boundaries between the real and the fictional. Among the basic theoretical contributions used to carry out and support the analysis, are texts by Perrone-Moisés (2016) and Karl Erik Schollhammer (2009); to address the postmodern and contemporary identity crisis, we use the perspective of Zygmunt Bauman (2001) and Stuart Hall (2016); and, to discuss the concept of autofiction, we use the notes of the French writer and theorist Serge Doubrovsky (2014), Philippe Vilain (2014), and others that broadened the term, such as Vincent Colonna (2014). The analysis focuses on autofictional issues in the novel that require an examination of the relationship between author and narrator; to support such an examination, we resorted to new perspectives on autofiction, based on the discussion of Azevedo (2008), Diana Klinger (2006) and Faedrich (2015). This paper seeks to explore these theories over three chapters. Among other conclusions, Chico Buarque utilizes autofiction in Essa gente, building a dubious and ironic game in a novel full of autobiographical hints to perform affective conflicts, social decadence, wounds left by history and the difficult political situation in Brazil between 2016 and 2019 |
