Resumo: Before the COVID-19 pandemic, many professionals used the traditional model of psychotherapy, those who resisted adopting online services found themselves with no alternative when social distancing occurred during the coronavirus pandemic. Given this scenario, a question arose, how psychotherapy users experienced the transition from in-person to virtual mode during social distancing in the SARS-CoV2 pandemic. To better understand the phenomenon, we set the following goals: identify the changes and specificities in both experiences (in-person/online), analyze the strategies of the synchronous online framework, identify the difficulties in the synchronous online and analyze the reflexes experienced in telepsychotherapy after the pandemic. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, we chose qualitative research. Eight semi-structured interviews were carried out with eight adult participants of both sexes and aged between 32 and 64 years, belonging to the middle class and residing in the State of São Paulo and who, prior to the pandemic, were attended individually in person. The transcribed interviews were subjected to thematic analysis. The content of the interviews was organized into three thematic axes: framing, after and adaptation and the decision to remain online post-pandemic. The results of the framework showed resistance in the transition from face-to-face to virtual modality, disbelief in the effectiveness of online care, however telepsychotherapy for introverted people proved to be very effective. In the axis after adaptation, we observed that participants using ICTs had less difficulty using technological equipment, unlike those who were not familiar with the internet, and in the last axis we found participants' adherence to telepsychotherapy, highlighting the promising and effective aspects of the modality. online. We conclude that the incorporation of virtual media in psychotherapy is an internal and social process that should be expanded in the coming years
