Resumo: The purpose of this research is to present an overview of adolescence s identities thematic constructions found on youth magazines published to teenage girls. This study sought to analyze the linguistic-discursive hallmarks employed to disseminate adolescence s ideology on contemporary society, where the printed media expands its practices operating in the subjects constitution through cognitive maps leashed to consumption. These hallmarks are orientations and counsels which permeate the communicative contracts of these publications and instigate behaviors in a segment that is in the process of physical and emotional formation, hence, more susceptible to such appeals. Thus, this research undertook an analysis of media portraits of the adolescent in the 1998, 2003, and 2008 issues of the most circulated magazines targeting teenage girls in Brazil: Atrevida, Capricho, and Todateen. The investigation of these publications relied on the methodological support of Norman Fairclough s tridimensional model of critical discourse analysis, and Charandeau s enunciative strategies of communication contract. Primarily, this study sought to identify similarities among the publications taking into consideration discursive strategies adopted by the enunciator in communicating with the reader. Following, the content analysis adopted the thematic separation proposed by Currie and Prado. The discussion about adolescence mostly relied on the work of Bourdieu and Reguillo. In order to reflect on the postmodern subject s constitution and the imperatives of the consumption culture seeking to understand the interferences of media instruments on contemporary social dynamics the work of Hall, Giddens, and Bauman were explored
