In the light of the knowledge of Gerontology, and in view of the situation of the old subject in Brazilian society, this paper aims to study the constitutional foundations that guide the work of the Elderly Person's Pastoral / PPI. To analyze whether the role of the Pastoral of the Elderly Person, in their daily activities, has an identity, principles and objectives, similar to those of the Federal Constitution of our Country. At first, the concept of the Federal Constitution was emphasized, its classification , objectives and history (CF / 88). Fundamental rights and constitutional principles were discussed, pointing out the difference between principles and norms. Also highlighted were the fundamental principles with a focus in Art. 1º of CF / 88. In the following, the fundamental principles specific to the topic addressed were explained, which principles are explained in art. 1º of CF / 88, namely: subsection II - Citizenship; subsection III - the Dignity of the Human Person. We quote in addition the principles of Fraternity and Solidarity contemplated as constitutional values, contained, respectively, in the preamble and art. 3rd Section I of CF / 88. In a second moment the work of the Elderly Person's Pastoral was detailed, starting with an approach regarding aging, old age, elderly person and the current phenomenon of longevity. Subsequently, the link with the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB), its statute and internal regulations, the mission of Catholic pastoral action, objectives and pastoral functions was pointed out. The concept of the Elderly Person's Pastoral was also raised, with its purpose, mission, methodology, activities performed, people welcomed and presence that transforms the reality of the elderly. In a later moment, it was the Solidarity Network of Formation in Aging of the Pastoral of the Elderly Person, its development and objective. Finally, there was the interconnection between the constitutional principles and the objectives of the PPI based on values such as: Solidarity, Fraternity, Citizenship and Dignity of the human person. The methodological procedure in the construction of the scientific knowledge foreseen in this dissertation was the bibliographical and documentary research. The results of the present study indicate that the Pastoral Care of the Elderly Person is an instrument that upholds the constitutional values and the common convergence of objectives between both institutes |
