Resumo: |
This research is composed by two studies with the following purposes: to map the presence and characterize the profile of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists in the interdisciplinary teams of the Psychosocial Care Units of the State of São Paulo (CAPS) (study 1) and to analyze and describe the work of Speech- Language Pathologists at the CAPS in the state of São Paulo (study 2). The method of study 1 was quantitative and descriptive and included 20 CAPS from the state of São Paulo and 24 Speech-Language Pathologists who work at these CAPS. The procedure was the mapping of all CAPS in the state of São Paulo and the identification of the CAPS units where the Speech-Language Pathologist was part of the interdisciplinary team. Then, after approval from the coordinator or responsible institutions, a questionnaire was completed, containing questions about the Speech-Language Pathologists profile characterization. The results were analyzed with statistical treatment. Study 2 s method was qualitative and descriptive and included 24 Speech- Language Pathologists working at the CAPS in the state of São Paulo. The procedure included semi-structured interviews with the Speech-Language Pathologists, conducted after approval from coordinators or responsible institutions. The data were analyzed using categories defined after the interview procedure. Results: Most Speech-Language Pathologists work in childhood CAPS. The mean age of the subjects is 414.6 years and mean time of graduation is 19.3 years. The majority of interviewed Speech-Language Pathologists went to different kinds of Graduate school. Regarding the beginning of their professional activities at the CAPS, most reported not having previous knowledge about mental health and having learned about the job in their daily lives at work. Regarding the type of assistance, most perform both individual and group assistance. The thesis points to the fact that even though psychiatric reformation ensures interdisciplinary treatment, including Speech-Language Pathology in these healthcare services, the presence of Speech-Language Pathologists is still very small in numbers. This professional s insertion currently takes place in greater scale in childhood and adolescent care CAPS, but their insertion in adult care CAPS has also been observed, showing that the field is also open for these professionals. Among the demands of subjects with mental disorders, Language problems give the Speech- Language Pathologists priorities in contributing with their field specificities in the teams at the CAPS. Conclusion: The findings show that the insertion/work of the Speech- Language Pathologists at the CAPS of the state of São Paulo is not effective and is very small in numbers, occurring mostly in childhood and adolescent care CAPS. A suggestion is that the curriculums of Speech-Language Pathology programs invest in these professionals academic education, providing the acquisition of knowledge and practical experiences in the field of public health in general, as well as mental health in particular, aiming to contribute to the promotion, insertion and more effective work of Speech-Language Pathologists in these services |
