Resumo: This thesis aims to investigate the relation between poetry slam – a competitive event of spoken word poetry – and literature, as well as its contributions to the context called peripheral2 (D’andrea, 2013; 2020; Eslava, 2004; Lehnen, 2016). Based on the hypothesis that slam is a poetic construction that intertwines and condenses the relation of alterity between the subject and the world, substantiated in the dialogic perspective of the discourse (Bakhtin 1987; 2002; 2016; 2017; 2018; 2020; Medviédev, 2012; Volóchinov, 2019), the research gathers images of the trajectory of the collective Slam da Guilhermina from São Paulo, Brazil, and reflects on the implications of these ethical and aesthetic experiences on the formative process of the subject in public and institutional spaces. From the analysis of three poetic performances from the collective, available on YouTube, this work seeks to underline in the dialogue between slam, literary critics and the recent discussions on decoloniality, social representativeness (Ribeiro, 2017), legitimacy and biopolitics/subpolitics (Foucault, 2018; Pereira e Esposito, 2019), the extent in which this experiment is imbricated in the literary field as a poetic phenomenon and what are the elements of its poeticism and literariness. The analysis will be qualitative because it plans to verify and deepen matters related to the discursive materiality of slams and its relevance to the axiological positioning of slammers and the comprehension of the meanings, through the indications that emerge from the analyzed works. Based on the understanding that a literary work is significant in its entirety (Medviédev, 2012; Zumthor, 1993; 1997; 2000), such compositions, with the poetic function of resilience and survival, motivate the analyses of the possible senses that these “battles” refract in the face of the affections and searches that the texts represent, especially when tensioning matters that connect life to art (Volóchinov, 2019) and demonstrating that literature is also a space of dispute (Alcalde, 2014; 2016; 2019; 2022; Assunção, 2021; Barbosa, 2020; Dalcastagnè, 2012; 2019), in whose potency emerges a new relationship with the word, before the forms of control imposes by the instances of power. At the end of this study, the recognition of the aesthetic and social dimension of the slam poetry that, like any language attribute, guides itself directly from the ideologic medium, is determined by it and, in turn, determines it, condensing itself in a live and immediate synthesis of a concrete totality, is expected (Medviédev, 2012)
