Resumo: The technology parks are mechanisms to promote technological innovation and economic development in territorial scope. Arising in the context of interaction between universities and companies and proliferated around the world in the early 1970s, due to the change of techno-economic paradigm, these developments are highlighted by both, their need for regional coordination and national, as the volume of resources needed for implementation and development. In this context, the proposed work aims to examine the experiences of national technology parks in operation, in order to identify the factors that contribute to the success of such initiatives. Additionally, we seek to establish whether the technology parks can be installed in any location, or if the territorial elements are crucial for their results. The methodology is based on a review of theoretical and empirical literature on technology parks and on territorial innovation models, and makes use of multivariate analysis tools for experiences empirical verification. As a result, we propose a taxonomy to Brazilians technology parks in operation and a summary measure of performance, and the analysis suggest a positive effect between the location and the initiatives performance indicators
