During the 19th century, the myth of fragility emerged in the West . Such a myth was intended to become a tool for the control and domestication of women's bodies. Nevertheless, the myth of fragility refers to a specific woman - white woman, of high class, from different ways such notion passed over the life of different women in the occident, white and no white women of the working class. However what is seen, when watching them in their day by day, is the fragility of the myth of fragility and when thinking the self-defense, the martial arts, and the fights, not only during historie past timer, but in own contemporaneity itself, is one more possibility of reinforcing how another is social notion of the body, can impact the women's life by means of an active body consciousness. Aiming to understand how the women resignify their bodies starting from the way by which they take the space of the fighting and how such practicing are perceived, adding to the ransom of the trajectory of different women in the historical movements of fights, martial arts and self-defense, this dissertation met a way that make positive the feminine body, approaching the fragility, of the myth of fragility and reflecting the notion of fighting body. Before the perspective of intersection between sociology of body and gender, a notion of active body emerge, proving that the body doesn't end anatomic but it is social, cultural and politic |
