Resumo: This thesis work with interpretations around the possible psychoanalytic themes of nudity, specifically nudity in the performance La Bête by Wagner Schwartz, presented at MAM-SP in September 2017. The intense repercussion of La Bête occurred when a video of said performance went viral on various social networks showing a child, accompanied by his mother, touching a part of the artist's body. The work La Bête, that is, “The Beast”, was a performance in which the naked actor manipulates a plastic replica of a sculpture by Lygia Clark from the “Bichos” series. It is a production that requires an interaction with a gesture along with the public and the insertion of the naked element of the body provokes a universe of language that is plausible in the artistic context. It is proposed that the scandal occurred mainly due to lack of knowledge, which in psychoanalysis can be said to be “ignorance”, and/or contextual and artistic distance, which led to defamation, hatred, fallacies and censorship. In times of dissemination and rapid spread of misinformation, it seems quite convenient to study this social and psychoanalytic phenomenon and its implications in the field of art. The question that unfolds is related to the interpretation of the artist's naked body. To this end, the psychoanalytic method accompanies the elaboration in the sense of its articulation between the respective areas of knowledge – art and psychoanalysis – that are under debate. In this approach, diverse sources, such as newspapers, magazines and publications of articles and books, in addition to web news, were analyzed in this study. The analysis of speeches and psychoanalyses from Freud to Lacan and his commentators support the argument. As a conclusion and given the repressive nature and the absence of a unique and literal interpretation for the performer's nudity, it is possible to say without a doubt that the sexualized body creates art beyond sex
