Resumo: This theoritical study attempts a reflection about what we use to call adolescent`s identity crisis or crisis of adolescence. For this, it revisits theories about adolescence considerated `tradicionals`, because they became reference about this theme and included the dimensions of individual and society like a arranged pair of axes in opposition. The analysed theories are presented in two axes: 1) theories of psychoanalytical orientation, such as Erikson (1987), Knobel (1992) and Aberastury (1992), they give primacy to biological elements, as factors that bring out the crisis of adolescence; and, 2) theories of sociological orientation, such as Groppo (2000) and Santos (1996), they explain the crisis since social and historical changes. The performed analysis in this research, about crisis of adolescence, privileges the comprehension of the constitution of subject and society concepts, showing that this opposition is not a natural basis, but a historical process. We are presenting the possibility of the comprehension of the crisis of adolescence through the concept of subject, proposed by Lacan, who foresees a constitutive dialectic. Adolescence is seen as a part of this dialectic between internal and external, it is proper of subject`s constitution: what was recovered by societary devices (external) becomes a psychic operation (internal). The crisis of adolescence is much more consequence of subjective exigences that were put in motion by conflicts and contradictions of the society than proper changes of biological body.
