Resumo: This work aims to study the tales of oral tradition and its influence on the identity of modern storyteller in the light of the Syntagma: identity-metamorphosis-emancipation of social psychologist Agarwal Ciampa, for whom the notion of identity allows the man to know how processes influence the formation of individuals and regulate them as expressions of their life projects. A theoretical study on the voice that says the traditional tale-powerful vehicle of imagination-as a sound that embodies the word "bem-dita". The word of the traditionalist storyteller to whom the word is sacred. The studies of these tales led us to several theorists who observed the traditional tale, each of which from their point of view, investigating the origin and age of the traditional tale. The status of children's literature offers to the world of once upon a time, a ticket to the inner world of man. Is presented the course the art of telling and listening to stories in contemporary Instituto Sedes Sapientiae in Sao Paulo, "trainer" of storytellers since 2002: scenario where the subject of this search. Has the resources used by the researcher in the course of work. Accordingly, it was concluded that the tales of oral tradition, in the life of the subject involved, were the embryos of a process of emancipation and strengtheners to the construction of future projects of life, of the subject. Finally we can say that the tales of oral tradition functioned as true medicinal balms, as they say the old storytellers. The voices of the ancient bards and masters of oral narrative resonate in today's Storytellers, which follow the rhythm and rhyme of counting orally; they create images in air and materialize the verb providing a path of emancipation what in the borders
