This study presents the causes of a mourning process that we defined as “unthinkable”, which is associated to an anguish related to mourning. The subject has emerged from clinical experience inquiries about adult patients with regressed and childish aspects. This patient group presented some lack of psychic symbolization, lack of sense about traumatic experiences, of criticism, and undefined anguishes. In such clinical cases, there is an incidence of mournings not yet thought, thus not elaborated. This way, through the psychanalysis research method, we associate the cause of this problem by the means of the transmission of psychic life between generations, constituted under the refusal defense mechanism, preventing the subject to elaborate their mournings, as well as appropriating their sense of existence of the self. Moreover, this study considers that, in these cases, mourning brings separation anguishes in a overwhelming way, and to not elaborate mournings is a manner of avoiding the collapse of the acknowledged psychic structure
