Resumo: |
In this study we map the meanings of citizenship in dimensions relevant to Psychology: gender and violence against women. The introduction of a gender perspective through the struggle of the women s movement for the end of gender discrimination can lead to a re-definition of the notion of citizenship. Meanwhile, violence is still a real obstacle and a daily reality for the citizenship of many women in light of the fact that all violence disrespects the condition of the person and violates the basic human rights. Therefore, it is fundamental that the socio-psychological dimensions of citizenship be studied, focusing on the inter-phase between subjectivity and citizenship. The main objective of this study is to analyze the discourses on citizenship by women who are militants in the women s movement and/or implementers of public policies directed to women in situations of gender violence. Therefore, we conducted a qualitative study in which we interviewed militants that participated in the process of elaborating programs assisting women in the city of Belo Horizonte and are the coordinators. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed using discourse analysis since the meanings of citizenship are produced collectively in the discourse, in relation between what the person says and the conditions of discourse production. The data of our study shows that, at some moments there is a tendency toward a liberal concept, the meanings of citizenship produced by the interviewees points in the direction of the construction of a new citizenship. We analyze dimensions like the relation between equality and difference, the recognition of the other as one that has rights and desires, and a possibility of constructing a new society through the participation of socially active subjects. Finally, we would like to present an objective which emerged in the field work, analysis of the data and specificities of the women s movement in the city of Belo Horizonte. This theme, which organized the discourses of the interviewees, constitutes a contribution of this study, in light of the fact that there is little research on this matter. |
