Contemporary artistic production is marked by the diversity and transversality of languages. The artist, in the middle of the construction of his poetic project, explores the most diverse supports, languages and procedures to carry out and communicate his work. In this process, a variety of records is evident during the development of his artistic production. These documents are fundamental pieces to promote a more forceful dialogue in relation to the artistic object, as well as its context of production. Books, notes, sketches, diaries, rehearsal records, interviews, etc., are important clues to put the work in contact with the sphere of culture and the world that circumscribes it. This research adopts as an object of study the work of Anna Maria Maiolino, an Italian-Brazilian artist, from publications about her artistic production such as catalogs, books and art portfolios. What manifests itself when analyzing the set of her visual production is the recurrence of certain signs, shapes and themes that are updated in different materialities, as the artist communicates the vital links of her poetic project. By using a significant amount of languages, supports and creative procedures, Maiolino's work is a starting point for reflecting on contemporary experimentation based on the complex relationship between process and work. With a theoretical basis of the area involved in the treatment of the theme, the research procedures are oriented to the verification of the hypothesis presented, through a case study. From some general aspects of the creation process, special emphasis will be given to the following: cultural networks, construction of the poetic project, gestures, intersemiotic texture, prominence of aspects of the process, processes becoming works and procedural works |
