Resumo: |
In this undertaking, I have traced the trajectory of the Institute of Education of the University of São Paulo (USP) from its founding, in 1934, to its closing, in 1938. Successor to the São Paulo Normal School, traditional institution for the high-level preparation of teachers, the Institute was the stage, between the years 1934 and 1938, for the first Brazilian experiment in the university preparation of elementary and secondary school teachers and educational technicians - directors and supervisors -, in addition to the improvement of teachers already in the educational system. And it was in this atmosphere that the university professors institutionalized the production of educational research, nourishing the desire to produce a modern educational knowledge, disseminating it to constitute a "national spirit". The professors who composed the teaching body of the Institute of Education of the USP, inaugurated in this period, as "normalistas", the first generation of university-trained teachers. In 1938, this experiment was concluded by the Federal Mediator Ademar de Barros, who transformed the Institute into the 4th Section of the College of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of the University of São Paulo |
