Resumo: Introduction: Dogs have been in the life of humans since the dawn of civilization and have been gradually taking on new roles in society. Due to the mutual support that characterizes the bond between these two species, dogs, which are proven to be recognized for being sentient, currently establish themselves as members of socalled multi-species families. In addition, the effectiveness of their presence in supporting people with physical, mental and/or social vulnerability - the so-called Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI) - has been discussed scientifically and widely disseminated on digital social networks. Purpose: To investigate the human-dog relationship in the context of human health in posts made on Instagram. Method: This is an exploratory-descriptive cross-sectional study through the collection of posts made on Instagram, which were searched for using previously selected hashtags - #terapiaassistidaporanimais and #animalassistedtherapy - and which were chosen for being indexed at the Health Sciences Descriptors - DeCS. Posts were collected for 10 minutes daily for each of the chosen hashtags, from Monday to Sunday, at times defined by lot, for three months in 2019 (July, August and September). Results: Results were described based on the following categories of posts: according to the geographic location; the characteristics of those assisted (type of frailty, gender and age group), the place of care; the type of activity performed; and as to the areas of knowledge involved. Thus, it was possible to understand the phenomenon studied from quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results. Conclusion: As the social network has enabled access to the approach to this topic in the contemporary world scenario, this study provided significant data on this inter-species relationship in the context of human health
