Resumo: Changes in the corporate environment, increased competitiveness, and pressure for results directly impact the quality of life and well-being of employees. When work demands exceed limits, individuals can be affected by Burnout Syndrome, a condition resulting from prolonged and intense stress leading to physical and mental exhaustion. This research focused exclusively on professionals in the field of controller due to their high exposure to intense levels of stress and pressure. Its objective was to identify the effects of burnout on their careers. Specific objectives included investigating the causes of burnout, analyzing the physical and mental effects on health and well-being, assessing its impact on productivity and professional performance, examining prevention and intervention strategies, and investigating its consequences on job satisfaction and turnover intentions. The research is qualitative and utilizes semi-structured interviews as the data collection technique. Content analysis proposed by Bardin (2011) was used to analyze the data, and the NVivo software was employed to organize and manage the transcribed data. Interviews were conducted with controller professionals from different companies and areas, and the results emphasize the importance of self-care, psychological support, and the creation of a healthy and balanced work environment where professionals can feel valued and motivated
