Resumo: |
Spiritism in Brazil was not only established as a religion, but as a philosophy that supported groups of intellectuals to elaborate a pedagogical theory, added to the political articulation in defense of public education, namely in the mid-twentieth century, in its congresses, university movements, journalistic groups and periodicals. The research examined the trajectory of Herculano Pires, between the years 1948 to 1976, especially his role in spiritist journalism, in the field of education and his status as an intellectual in the public sphere. Based, in general lines, on the theoretical scope of Antonio Gramsci, the work analyzed, in a privileged way, the magazines Mensagem and Educação Espírita: Revista de Educação e Pedagogia, both created and directed by Herculano Pires. Thus, it results from the present investigation, the inclusion of José Herculano Pires as an intellectual to be better studied by national historiography |
